A Filipino may denationalize himself but not his stomach. He may travel over the seven seas, the five continents and the two hemispheres and lose the savor of home, forget his identity and believe himself a citizen of the world. But he remains- gastronomically, at least- always a Filipino. For, if in no other way, the Filipino loves his country with his stomach.

Let this be my message to all of you high school seniors who think you’ve got Ateneo figured out.
This goes the same for:
- all you freshmen who believe you’re golden just because you passed the ACET and are rounding off the year.
- the sophomores who feel like three and a half semesters here means you already have the school down to a tee.
- my fellow juniors who think that they’ll be coasting in a few months.
And to the graduating folk, remember what got you the chance to march in your togas.
